Be Prepared for Emergencies

We wrap up Safety@TTU month with a look at emergency preparedness resources for you and your family.

We encourage all faculty, staff and students to sign up for TechAlert, the university’s emergency alert notification system. TechAlert! provides notifications about emergency situations on campus, class cancellations or delays.

TechAlert! is used only in event of an emergency as defined by university officials, and the contact information supplied to TechAlert! will not be used for any other purpose.

The system is pre-loaded with the primary phone numbers listed in the university’s student and employee information databases. But this number may not be the best number for use in an emergency situation. Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to sign up for TechAlert! and to keep their information updated whenever phone numbers or e-mail addresses change.

National Preparedness Month

September also is National Preparedness Month across the U.S. The National Safety Council asks families to participate by doing four things:

  • Build an emergency kit
  • Make a plan
  • Stay informed
  • Get involved

There are resources and more information available from the National Safety Council.
